Supplies for Quarantine
Household Cleaning Items
You’ll need your everyday cleaning items like an all-purpose cleaner, and dishwashing and laundry detergent. Vinegar is an inexpensive ingredient for cleaning solutions, as are baking soda and borax. You’ll also need sponges and paper towels for cleaning.
Favorite Foods
Eating your favorite foods can make being stuck at home a little more bearable. If you’re enjoying the warmer weather by cooking outside, buy meat and vegetables to throw on the grill.
Medications and Over-the-Counter Drugs
It’s a good idea to refill your medicine cabinet and first-aid kit. Drugs like pain relievers, cold medicine, anti-itch ointments, and stomach medicine should be a staple in every house. If you’re on any medications, make sure you have at least a two week supply. Many insurance companies are waiving their medication refill rules so you can stock up on your prescriptions in one visit.
Batteries are Overlooked Supplies for Quarantine
Many of your household devices run on batteries. The remote control, children’s toys, and flashlights all use batteries. Make sure you have plenty of back-up power for all of your electronics and household appliances.
Supplies for Quarantine Include Craft Supplies, Games, and Books
If you’re sheltering at home, then there’s a good chance that you have a lot of extra free time on your hands. Crafting is a great way to pass the time, especially if you have kids. Games will also give your family hours of enjoyment and books are another great way to pass the time. If you can’t get physical copies of the books you want because your local library and/or bookstores are closed, buy e-books instead.
Quarantine Shopping Tips
Don’t wait until you’re almost out of something before you resupply. This means you have to plan ahead because you might not be able to find some items in stores right away.
At the same time, don’t hoard things. While most stores are placing limits on the quantities of certain items you can buy, some people are still finding ways to get more than they need. Hoarding only causes unnecessary shortages for others who won’t be able to buy the items they need.
